We realized this was some distance from
the airport and called the hotel to confirm the location.
We asked if they offered shuttle service to the airport
since we were departing the next morning.
They did not. We were told we would have to either take a $30 taxi
ride or use an airport shuttle service which cost about $18 each for the two
of us.
The hotel gave us Priceline.com's number
(apparently they'd heard this complaint before) and we called Priceline.com
to find out why we had been placed in a hotel which was in Aurora, CO,
which didn't offer an airport shuttle? It had been
clear we wanted to be near, and have access
to, the Denver airport.
Priceline.com showed us their on-line
map which had an elongated "Denver Airport" area extending quite a way from
the airport. They showed us that if we
clicked on the detail feature, we could see that the hotel they had placed
us in was actually located within the elongated area.
I explained our problem, that we had no
car and needed to get to the airport in the morning, and asked them to
relocate us to a hotel that provided shuttle service.
They refused saying that there were absolutely no changes allowed.
When I asked to speak with a supervisor,
the Priceline.com customer service rep actually refused to allow me to speak
with a supervisor. She told me that I could
only reach a supervisor by email and that I would "get the same answer" from
a supervisor anyway.
The taxi ride to the airport the next
morning cost us $28 plus a $4 tip. The $32 ride increased our "cheap
hotel" cost by approximately 75%.
Caveat emptor. We do not intend to
use Priceline.com again.
