Unhelpful customer service is no help.
 

I called AT&T customer service, to question a long distance charge on my phone bill.

I have complete choice on 2 separate phone lines in my home.

The operator told me we should have dialed 1 and the area code before dialing the number. Hell0!!!

We have area calling. But, because we did not dial 1 + area code we have been charged with a long distance call.

Plus, we had a smart mouth operator to boot telling me it was not their fault we don't know how to dial a phone.

I say AT&T is a poor excuse for a telephone company.
