After seeing Sprint's DSL internet advertised price of
$34.95/month, I called a Sprint representative and told him I was interested in signing up
for DSL for that price. He said that I would have to get a phone line at about
$13.00/month and then I could get the DSL for $34.95 a month.
Since it is for a weekend house and we only use cell phones,
I wasn't much interested in a land line, but thought OK. I decided to call back in a
couple of days and discuss it again with ANOTHER representative. I AGAIN was told
what the TOTAL monthly charges would be in order to get the $34.95 DSL. I was told
AGAIN, that with the phone line, DSL ($34.95), various fees and taxes, my monthly TOTAL
bill would be in the low $60.00's.
So, I agreed to a year's commitment based on what 2 different
Sprint representatives at 2 different times told me!
I got my first bill and was charged $49.99/month for the DSL.
I called and told them what I was quoted and they said no, you cannot get the
$34.95/month unless you have a "bundled" package on your phone line too. I
said what? I didn't even need a phone line, but got it because I was told to in
order to get the $34.95 DSL. After much hassle and talking to a supervisor, they
adjusted the bill.
I just got another month's bill and it is back to the
$49.99/month for the DSL. I just spent 30 more minutes working my way to another
Sprint "supervisor" who wanted to "explain" it to me. I asked
over and over "YES OR NO... are you going to charge me the price I was
quoted?!!" She would not answer me.
