I just bought a 1999 Honda Passport and am having problems with the shift button locking up.
 

It prevents me from shifting out of park.

Does anyone know what the problem is that causes this?

Your best bet will be to start with the mode/range don't spend the 100 bucks on it.

Just clean the contacts and you should be back on the road!
